sephora cream lip stains

First of all, the Sephora Cream Lip Stains are incredible.  Second, "Lip Stain" is completely misleading. These are really liquid lipsticks, leaving a layer of opaque color on top of the lips and are not drying.  They do, however, have the longevity of a stain.  They come in ten different shades (my favorites are 01 Always Red and 03 Strawberry Kissed, both a gorgeous velvety matte) with three finishes: matte (no shimmer), satin (shimmery/iridescent), and shimmering (very shimmery).  The tube is a sturdy plastic, about four inches long, and the cap has a doefoot applicator wand.

The Sephora Cream Lip Stains can be a little tricky to apply, but I've come up with a good method that makes application easy and helps it last all day.  First, remove as much product from the wand as possible, and then place a very light coat directly on the lips.  Keep a cotton swab handy to clean up the edges.  Applying too much at once will cause the product to run, leaving you with a mess and uneven edges.  Applying more than one layer, I've found, results in a less smooth appearance and shortens the wear time; a second layer isn't necessary anyway--the color payoff is fantastic.  Touch it up later in the day using the same light hand.

The application is a little fussy, and I do wish there were more matte shades, but the Sephora Cream Lip Stain ($13) is one of my favorite lipsticks for its wear and its look.  Pick them up at any Sephora store or online.
